Odds Presented in a Clear Format
Displays the odds of winning in a recognisable format (e.g. "1 in 875") so entrants can make an informed decision.
What it is
You show entrants their actual chance of winning in a plain, recognisable format — for example "1 in 875", or "your odds with one ticket are 1 in 875" — on every competition page. Showing a raw ticket count on its own is not enough: the odds themselves need to be spelled out so anyone can read them at a glance. We mean the odds of winning the main prize, taken from the ticket count. This is not a blended "chance to win something" figure that mixes the headline prize in with small instant wins, which can look flattering but tells an entrant very little.
Why we track it
Odds are the single most important fact for an entrant deciding whether a competition is worth it. Presenting them clearly is the hallmark of an operator that has nothing to hide, and it is exactly the transparency the UK prize-draw guidance encourages.
How to earn it
- Show the odds of winning in a recognisable "1 in X" format on every competition page — not just a ticket count that leaves the entrant to work it out.
- Display the odds before entry, not only at sell-out or after purchase.
- Keep the figure easy to find on the competition page itself, not buried in the terms.
This is one of several weighted indicators behind a site's letter grade (A+ to F). We don't publish the exact points or thresholds, but earning more indicators — and avoiding hostile T&C clauses — moves a site up the scale. See the full method on our How We Rate page.
Our ratings are based on publicly observable criteria and data analysis. This is not a guarantee of legitimacy, prize fulfilment, or financial security. We are not affiliated with any competition site. Always do your own research before entering competitions or spending money.
