Free Entry Available
A free postal or online entry route is offered alongside paid entries, as UK law requires for prize draws.
What it is
A genuine free entry route runs alongside paid entry — typically a postal route, and often a free online alternative — giving entrants a no-cost way to take part on equal terms.
Why we track it
For a prize draw run as a lottery-avoidance model, a free entry route is a legal requirement, not a nicety. Offering one that is easy to find and use is a baseline sign that an operator is running the model lawfully.
How to earn it
- Provide a free entry method (postal, and ideally a free online route too).
- Give free entries the same chance of winning as paid entries.
- Publish clear, findable instructions — not a route hidden deep in the terms.
This is one of several weighted indicators behind a site's letter grade (A+ to F). We don't publish the exact points or thresholds, but earning more indicators — and avoiding hostile T&C clauses — moves a site up the scale. See the full method on our How We Rate page.
