August's story · property at the top

Two luxury homes led the month.

Supercars usually own the top of the prize table. In August they were pipped by bricks and mortar. The two richest prizes of the month were both houses from 7Days Performance A.

Odds by price

Cheap tickets, roomier odds

We split August's competitions by ticket price and looked at how full they got. As in July, the under-£1 tickets sold the least of any paid band, so on average they closed with the best odds for the people who entered.

Typical (median) share of tickets sold at close, by ticket price. Lower means more unsold tickets, which means better odds for the people who did enter.

The odds

Still only 9% sold out

Same story as ever: most competitions didn't fill up. Only 9% sold every ticket in August and the median finished at 63% sold, so for the vast majority of entries the real odds beat the advertised figure.

The cheap end

A penny to play, or nothing at all

August ran 936 free-to-enter competitions, and the cheapest paid entry was a single penny, a £1,750 cash draw at BOTB. The quiet, cheap comps that never fill up are usually where the best value hides.
