The year 1526 marked a significant moment for British coins, as it was the first time St George, the patron saint of England, appeared on the reverse of English coins. Struck on the George noble, the saint was portrayed battling a dragon.
For 2026, the third coin in our legendary St George and the Dragon Bullion Collection features a brand-new interpretation of the saint battling the mythical creature. Created by coin designer Sandra Deiana, the dynamic portrayal pays tribute to the 500th anniversary of the legendary scene captured on British coinage.
